A Chinese gilt copper repoussé figure of Amitayus. Seated on a double lotus throne, the figure wears a layered monk's robe that falls in crisp, elegant folds around the body. The face in finely cast serene expression, eyes with paint. The hair in tight curls that cover the ushnisha. Left hand resting in the lap, formerly supporting a kalash, the right hand holding a lotus. Qianlong 1736–1795. H. 36 cm.

Provenance: Jørgen Klubien 1881–1965. He worked from 1902 to 1937 in various places in China a.o. Shanghai, Hangzhou, Wuhu, Jiujiang, Nanjing where he purchased many art pieces.
