A rare antique Tekke Khalyk, Central Asia, Turkmenia. These small-format decorative hangings were once used during the celebration of Turkmen wedding processions and were fastened above the opening of the bridal litter(window curtain). The present piece is finely knotted and has retained a light, pleasant colour condition with rare tones of green and yellow. Furthermore this luxurious piece is in an unusually good condition with a completely preserved decorative fringe and wool wrapping in alternating colours. Knot: Asymmetric, open to the right, wool. C. 3600 kn/dm2. Warp: Light wool, natural colored. Weft: Light brown, natural colored, 2. Mid-19th century. W. 74 cm. H. 46 cm/incl. tassels 75 cm.
