Italian Wines From a Former Michelin Restaurant up for Auction

It is with great pleasure and professional pride that we present an excellent collection of Italian wines from a former top Danish restaurant with a Michelin star, which will make any sommelier drool with excitement on seeing the contents of its bottles. Michelin is synonymous with gastronomic experiences in an absolute class of their own, and the wines really live up to that.

We’ve dedicated several of this year’s upcoming Online Auctions to this particular collection, due to its extensive size and the quality of its vintages and producers. The sale of the collection begins on Thursday 7 March at 8 pm.

Sassicaia

Some of the highlights of the opening auction come from the producer Sassicaia. Sassicaia’s role model was from the outset the great red wines from Bordeaux. The focus of these wines on Cabernet and Merlot makes them suitable for fine dining, with enough flavour and vitality to survive several world wars. Sassicaia featured on the wine map of the world before the legendary 1985 vintage saw the light of day, and the many years of perfecting it – based on the French model – saw it skyrocket with the 85. The fact that Robert Parker also awarded the wine the magical 100 points meant that Sassicaia would never again have to stand in the shadow of its “big brother” in Bordeaux. That the bottle has only had one owner in all the intervening maturing years should be considered a further badge of honour, if superlatives are needed to describe Sassicaia 1985.

1 bottle Sassicaia IGT, Tenuta San Guido 1985 A-A/B (bn). Estimate: DKK 20,000-26,000.

Brovia

Another producer that stands strong at the auction is Brovia. Brovia cares about terroir and tradition. The wines from here are classic, and with the third generation at the helm, it’s a producer with pedigree and expertise in the vineyard and wine cellar alike. That this is a declaration of love for Brovia from our collector is evident in the quantity and breadth of cuvées that we are offering. Wines that the lucky buyer will not only be able to enjoy now, but also in twenty years due to the tenderness with which these much-cherished bottles have been treated.

3 magnum bottles Barolo “Rocche”, Brovia 2004 A (hf/in). Owc. Estimate: DKK 5,000-7,000.

Giuseppe Cortese

There is just as much love for the wines of producer Giuseppe Cortese, who has his feet firmly planted in Barbaresco. A classic approach to winemaking is employed here with the use of new French and Slavonian casks to achieve the best result with the grapes bestowed on the vineyard by Mother Nature year after year. Top of the list is Cortese’s Rabaja, which shines brightest above the green amphitheatre of vineyards that make up Cortese’s lifeblood. But don’t just take our word for it. We have it from an even more than credible source that the Cortese wines up for auction have a nerve and energy that is only topped by the collection’s provenance.
