Antiquarian bookshop at auction
Denmark’s only antiquarian music bookshop
Whether you’re a music lover or a budding music antiquarian, this is a unique opportunity for you to acquire the stock from Denmark’s only antiquarian music bookshop. In a historic building from 1731, at the heart of Gråbrødre Torv square, in the centre of Copenhagen is one of Denmark’s oldest antiquarian bookshops, Dan Fog Musikantikvariat. It was opened in 1906 and, from the outset, concerned itself with a special niche in the antiquarian book trade: the sale of old sheet music, scores and books on music in general.
Grieg, Wagner, Mozart and Bach
The antiquarian bookshop has everything from the great masters Mozart, Beethoven and Bach to more modern composers such as Carl Nielsen, Tchaikovsky and Grieg, all neatly arranged on the shelves. But the owner of the shop, Lene Fog, is retiring and has decided to sell all the sheet music, books and the knowledge database, not to mention the extensive customer register, so the collection can start a new life elsewhere. The antiquarian bookshop has been valued at DKK 100,000 and the stock consists of a total of around 40,000 titles with a total asking price of approx. DKK 4 million. Around half of the titles are registered in a database, which also contains written records of books previously sold in the shop. The database and a complete customer register are included in the purchase of the bookshop.
