This important work by Søren Kierkegaard is bound in a characteristic black glazed paper binding which was personally commissioned by the philosopher. Kierkegaard was very particular about the books he presented to others. He had them bound in fine bindings, mostly in black glazed paper. Compared to his contemporary author colleague Hans Christian Andersen, he only gave them to people of importance or close relation to him - mostly men. Thus characteristic bindings commissioned by Kierkegaard are very rare on the market.
