The present work is a study for the painting “Morgen efter stormen på København 1659. Kong Frederik III besøger valpladsen ved fregatten “Højenhal” i Kalvebodstrand.” The latter was exhibited at Charlottenborg in 1919 no. 425 and mentioned and reproduced in Rikard Magnussen: Christian Mølsted in the series Danske Kunstnere, volume II published by “Foreningen for National Kunst” 1935, page 61.

Provenance: Acquired directly from the family of the artist, thence in the sellers family until today.

Condition

The paper has turned slightly brown. Paperloss and marks from drawing pins in lower right corner. Damp discolourations and minimal stains. A figure on the left has been pasted in. Area in lower right corner has been pasted in. The sheet has presumably been cropped. Examined in frame.
