Title-page, coat-of-arms and first two pages repaired and reinforced with newer paper. Missing portrait and half title. With titlepage for all 3 parts. With woodcut illustrations. Spotting and signs of age throughout. With new endpapers by Heitmanns bookbinding. Bound in (near) cont. full calf with brass corners and clasps.
It was the Danish King Frederik II who commissioned a new edition of the first Danish folio Bible (1550). However, he died in 1588, just before the work was finished. The Bible was the first to be printed by a Dane (Vingaard) and it was the largest printing undertaken in Denmark during the 16th century.
