As a sister to the painter Johannes Larsen, Christine Swane is included in a larger circle of performing artists. She is educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1898–1901 and is subsequently taught by Fritz Syberg, J.F. Willumsen and Harald Giersing. Around 1910, she marries the painter Sigurd Swane, but the marriage falls apart in 1920. Unlike many other women in the marriages between artists of the time, Swane continues her career and development as an artist.

The motifs are preferably found in her proximity in the shape of still lifes, where the items of the home are arranged on tables and in windowsills in a way, which makes the ordinary and conventional to something essential in the art. In particular, green resonates throughout the artist's works, carefully used in several shades, and often set against a skeleton of blue contour lines and – as in this beautiful bouquet – contrasted by small discreet red tones. Swane's style is poetic but precise, which makes her a sought-after artist at auctions, especially in recent years.

Several of Christine Swane’s works are located in the Johannes Larsen Museum’s collection. In 2018, the museum curates the exhibition ”GRØN” (GREEN), the same year at Odsherred Art Museum and in 2019 at ”Upåagtet” (Undaunted), Rønnebæksholm.
