After studying in Paris, Frydensberg was influenced by the the french tradition in painting especially by the impressionists. She painted portraits as well as landscapes and flowers but her preferred motifs were motiver groups of ballerinas or young women much as the young woman in the pink dress in the present painting. Hedvig Frydensberg showed her works numerous times in a period from 1908–1932 at Kunstnernes Efterårsudstilling and also exhibited at Charlottenborgs Forårsudstilling and Den Frie Udstillingsbygning amongst others.
