1967 is the year when ordinary Soviet people for the first time get the legal opportunity to listen to The Beatles. The state record company “Melodiya” releases a 10" compilation album, which is the very first official Soviet album to contain a single track by The Beatles the song “Girl”. The other nine tracks on the album were by various other foreign artists and one single from the Soviet Union. The album hit the shelves in one of Moscow's central stores at the end of September 1967. See Tracklist above.

The first Beatles 7” EP was released in 1974. with the songs “Can't Buy Me Love”, “Maxwell's Silver Hammer”, “Lady Madonna” and “I Should Have Know Better”. Flexi EPs with the same songs were also released at the same time. The records were recorded at 33 1/3 rpm. The records were printed in different cities. Aprelevka (Moscow), Leningrad, Riga, Tashkent and Tbilisi and were released with labels in different colors. Record covers were often neutral colorful standard covers or with landscape pictures or the like. They could also say “English music quartet” or “Vocal and Instrumental Ensemble”. The labels stated Beatles - Битлз.

In 1974–1975, a total of six Beatles EPs and six Flexi EPs were released, of which five are only with Beatles songs and one (EP 3) is with songs by Beatles, Gems (USSR), Shocking Blue and Creedence Clearwater Revival.
