Commenting on this work the artist notes that this etching is crucial, also for his paintings in the earliest 1890s: “The resulting colour surfaces forming this etching is a basic technique in all of the following works (shown at Den Frie Udstilling, Copenhagen in 1892 - the Bretagne-paintings)”.
Printed on two occasions in a total of 16 copies. The work is an icon within Danish graphics and is now regarded as one of J. F. Willumsen's rarest graphic sheets.
