A Petag Tabriz carpet, Persia. A classical 17th century “Vase” design depicting a network of scrolling stems, large palmettes, floral rosettes and vases on a red field surrounded by a typical rather narrow main border on blue back ground with rectangular grouping af small, white flowers in alternation with rosettes and palmettes. Characteristic Petag “Cintamani” monogram sign(Upper left corner of the centre field). Early 20th century. 393×312.

PETAG (Persian carpet stock company, established in 1911) was operating looms in Persia and very succesfully reproducing 16/17th century Persian designs. These carpets are rare, of fine quality, highly appraised and sought after by collectors and enterior designers.
