The Battle of Copenhagen was a naval battle between Denmark and Britain, it took place on 2 April 1801. The British fleet was under the command of Admiral Sir Hyde Parker (1739–1807) and fought a Danish-Norwegian fleet embedded at Rheden, Copenhagen. The attack was led by Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758–1805), who disobeyed an order to withdraw from the battle and instead destroyed a large part of the Danish fleet, and Denmark and Norway subsequently accepted a cease-fire.
