“Russia” was built in 1908 by Barclay Curle & Co. In 1918, it was transferred from the Russian East Asiatic Company to the Danish East Asiatic Company, and in 1921, it was given the name “Latvia”. The ship was sold to Japan in 1923. During World War II, it was a troop transport ship and was torpedoed and sunk in the Pacific Ocean during a transport in 1944 (see also cat. no. 97).
