Mogens Lohmann (b. Copenhagen 1918, d. 1985)
Untitled, 1957. Signed an dated on the reverse. Oil on canvas. 130×97 cm.
After seeing the exhibition Klar Form in 1951, Mogens Lohmann is clarified in relation to the fact that concrete painting is his preferred form of expression. He then works with the primary colors but also sometimes in a pure black and white motif. The motifs are restless geometric shapes; polygons, circles, squares, disturbed and broken lines, always with a sense of movement or uneasy balance. Not unlike Malevich and the Russian Suprematists. Lohmann exhibited in the 1950s at the post-Linien-II exhibitions “Linien 3” and “Linien igen”
Crackles and peelings. Small retouches.
