THE VICTORIAN ERA

A diamond rivière necklace set with old-cut diamonds weighing a total of app. 43 ct., mounted in gold and silver, composed of 36 diamonds in a graduating row from the clasp towards the front center. All diamonds are set in elegantly curved and threadlike prongs, from above creating floral bases, open back settings making lightning and sparkling effects from both above, below and sides. Colour: G-N. Clarity: VVS-P. Weight app. 50 g. W. 7–13 mm. L. 44 cm. Apparently unmarked. Presumably England or France. Circa 1880–1890.

Provenance: Property of a Zealand manor, Denmark. The diamond rivière necklace was part of a family property trust, which was founded in the late 19th century and dissolved due to Danish law in 1920. The diamond rivière necklace remained in the ownership of the descendants of the property trust founder and it has not been on the open market since the foundation was created.
