Provenance: Galleri 38, Copenhagen.

Arthur Köpcke (1928–1977) was a German-Danish artist who played a central role in the development of the avant-garde art scene in Europe in the mid-20th century. Born in Hamburg, Köpcke moved to Copenhagen in the 1950s, where he quickly became a part of the Danish art community. He is best known as a pioneer of experimental and conceptual art, particularly as a member of the international Fluxus movement, which focused on breaking down the boundaries between art and life.

Köpcke's work is characterized by a playful and intellectual approach to art, where he often combined text, image, and objects in his works to create complex yet accessible pieces that invited the viewer to actively participate. He was interested in the communicative potential of art and often created works that challenged the viewer to reflect on the meaning and function of art.
