Purchased by the present owner's grandfather, who founded Dansk Trælasthandel (today Silvan). He lived in a large house near Hvidøre, which was acquired in 1906 by Christian IX's daughters, Queen Alexandra of England, and the widowed Czarina Dagmar (Marija Fjodorovna) of Russia.
Provenance: The painting has been owned by the same family for more than 100 years.
