CHURCHILL THEME
'Operation Plunder' was the code name for the military operation launched by British Field Marshal Bernard Law Montgomery (1887–1976) on the night of March 23, 1945, which aimed to bring Allied forces across the Rhine River to gain access to the western part of Germany. The operation, which took place at the town of Rees, was a success and just two days later Prime Minister Winston Churchill was able to cross the river himself, accompanied by Field Marshal Montgomery.
This is an original b/w silver gelatin press photograph from 1945, which appears with a slightly yellowed back. In addition, common handling marks.
