“Lata Bench” by Agnes Studio (Guatemala)
Compressed aluminium cans | Powder coated steel Agnes Studio bases its practice on materialising hypothetical futures, alternate realities, and other-worlds to create objects that live between art and design by exploring, honoring, and defying the boundaries of traditional and experimental craft methods.
Composed of modular blocks made from compressed aluminium cans, the Lata bench is a playful experiment with a simple bench archetype. It explores the potential of a non-traditional material and its possible uses, embracing the uncontrolled aesthetics and the duality of creating something beautiful from a non-aesthetic, ‘post-trash’ material.
