Provenance: Rasmus Kopp Dreyer, the artist's brother and principal heir (1853). His daughters Miss Vilhelmine Dreyer and Mrs Frederikke Esbensen, Assens. Presumably bought by art dealer W. Schou from the two ladies and resold to merchant William Bendix (1912, 1921). The collection of the late merchant William Bendix, his estate Winkel & Magnussen auction 224, 1937 no. 11.
Suzanne Ludvigsen writes enthusiastically about the small interior in “Maleren Dankvart Dreyer”, vol. I, p. 230 (in Danish): “The small tight and golden painting is executed in an inspired way that resembles other church interiors painted by fellow artists such as Christen Købke”.
