Peder Moos (b. Nybøl 1906, d. Bredebro, Tønder 1991)

Unique coffee table of solid elm wood, top with flip-down leaves. Signed Moos 1944. Made 1944 by cabinetmaker Peder Moos. H. 66 cm. L. 72/94/116 cm. W. 59 cm.

Provenance: Artist and textile printer Helga Foght (1902–1974) acquired directly from Peder Moos.

Helga Foght was trained as a textile printer under Marie Gudme Leth and started her own studio in Gentofte in 1938. She often collaborated with the wholesale company L.F. Foght on interior textiles and also printed other artist's designs. She was successful early in her career and made a living in times where her artist and architect friends and colleagues were struggling. To support them, she would buy their artwork, as she did from Christian Poulsen, Peder Moos, and others. The table was used in her studio in Gentofte and remained there after her deadth, as it was passed on to colleague Inge Ingetoft, who continued Foght's studio. Hence by descent.
