Michael Bloch (b. 1930, d. 2015)
Prototype of the “Display Table” with mahogany frame. Top with four loose glass plates, under which compartment. Center of table with loose, black slate plate. Incl. brass tool for lifting glass plates. Made by Michael Bloch. H. 60 cm. L./W. 105,5 cm.

In addition to the present table—which is the prototype exhibited at the Cabinetmakers’ Guild Exhibition at the Museum of Art & Design in Copenhagen in 1966—the display table was originally produced in five copies.
Princess Margrethe opened the exhibition that year and quickly fell in love with the piece. The following year, two copies were presented as a gift from Queen Ingrid and the Royal Court to the Princess and the Prince. These display tables are still located at Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen and Marselisborg Palace in Aarhus, respectively.
