Frits Thaulow (b. Oslo 1847, d. Volendam 1906)

“Den røde Fabrik”. The red factory at Aker's river. Unsigned. Inscribed F.T. (by the artist's wife). Oil on panel. 25×34 cm.

After Thaulow's death, his wife Alexandra Thaulow sold some sketches and studies at exhibitions in Kristiania (Oslo), Copenhagen, Gothenburg and Stockholm. Usually, these studies were unsigned and Alexandra applied Frits Thaulow's initials to them, as is also the case in the present painting.
