The Battle of Køge Bay on 1 July 1677 was a Danish victory over the Swedes in the Scanian War and brought great honor to Admiral Niels Juel (1629–1897). In 1677 he acquired Tåsinge and Valdemar's Castle for the income that the victory in Køge Bay had brought him. This was finally implemented on 14 March 1678, when the Danish king handed over these properties to Admiral Niels Juel. This deed is hereby the basic document for the Juel family's possessions at Tåsinge and Valdemar's Castle, which are still owned by Admiral Niels Juel's descendants.

Provenance: Valdemar's Castle, Tåsinge.
