The Roman-inspired arc of triumph was erected in honor of the soldiers of the Three Years' War on Gammel- and Nytorv between Nygade and Frederiksbergsgade with the following inscription (In Danish): “It shall not happen what you swore as men” and on the back (In Danish): “We gained awareness that we are a people” .
