Else Fischer-Hansen (b. Copenhagen 1905, d. s.p. 1996)
Untitled, 1967. Signed and dated on the reverse. Oil on canvas. 92×74 cm. Unframed.
With her abstract and vivid imagery, Else Fischer-Hansen saw an increase in interest on the auction market in 2020. Her works received renewed attention and thereby a well-deserved recognition of the pictorial qualities of her art. Fischer-Hansen was educated at Emil Rannow's painting school and has also been taught at the croquis school in Nice. From 1937, the abstract compositions become characteristic of her oeuvre as seen in the present work. In her own time, she was both a member of Society of Female Artists, Grønningen and the Colourists and contributed to a number of exhibitions such as Helhesten's tent exhibition at Bellevue, The Artists’ Autumn Exhibition, Musée d’Art Moderne, Charlottenborg and more.
