CHURCHILL THEME
Winston Churchill - quite surprisingly, it seemed to many - lost the battle for Prime Minister in the British general election on July 5, 1945. Just two months after Germany surrendered, the British voted him out as their future political leader, and the power of government passed to Clement Attlee (Labour; 1883–1967), who had been a member of the war cabinet since 1940.
This is an original b/w silver gelatin press photograph from 1945, which appears with a corner crease in the lower left corner. In addition, a few surface cracks. Also, common handling marks.
