Constance Gertrude Copeman (b. 1864, d. 1953)

The painter and printmaker, Constance Gertrude Copeman, studied from 1891 to 1900 at The Liverpool School of Art under the Scottish painter of landscapes and printmaker, John Finnie, and several expressive portraits of Finnie working at the easel exist from her hand. She subsequently attended St. Ives in Cornwall under Julius Olsson. Copeman, became a member of The Liverpool Academy of Arts, she industriously exhibited a production of primarily portraits and portrayals, as well as working as a printmaker. She died in great poverty in her home town Liverpool in 1953.
The canvas needs tightening. Crackles and a few scratches/minor peelings.
