Kasper Jacek (b. 1989)
“I DREAM OF SUNRISES, UNTOUCHED”, 2024. Signed on the reverse. Handwoven canvas collage with spraypaint, acrylic and oil on canvas. 100×80 cm. Unframed.
The Danish artist Kasper Jacek (b. 1989) lives and works in Aarhus, Denmark. He is a self-taught artist, and his practice revolves around investigative work with materials. Jacek creates works that aim to disrupt conventional understandings of the connection between the world and our perception of it. Materials, movements, colors, scales, and figuration/non-figuration intertwine and unravel each other, illustrating elements that constantly explore asymmetry. Jacek's works delve into fleeting moments when clarity of vision is lost instances when the perception of the world becomes blurred, smeared, or challenged. It is within these moments that Jacek's works examine the times when vision is not merely a tool we wield with mastery, but rather something that observes, something that is exposed and overwhelmed by the world – thereby opening new avenues of perception. Visual disturbance serves as a fundamental metaphor in Jacek's works, symbolizing an opening of the world wherein we perceive things differently. Represented at Albert Contemporary.
