Elvis performed twice the same day (August 12, 1956) at Municipal Auditorium, both times sold-out. This, however, did not make the journalist from Times-Picayune any more content. The review, brought in the paper the next day, was to be found on page 29: “Elvis Presley jerked his torturous way across the stage of the Municipal Auditorium on Sunday, 'sang' eight or ten songs, thumped on a guitar, fell to the floor, knocked over microphones and set off a din of teenage squealing unparalleled since the heyday of Sinatra”.
