Provenance: A Danish manor house. According to tradition, the carpet was woven for and used at the reception held by Muhammed Reza Shahan Shah in Persepolis (Iran) in 1971 to celebrate the 2500 year anniversary of the Persian Empire (from Cyrus the Great, 558–530 BC, and up to the Pahlavi dynasty led by King Muhammed Reza Shahan Shan, 1925–1979). It took 12 knotters several years to complete this 89 sqm masterpiece.
