Caroline van Deurs (b. Frederiksberg 1860, d. Copenhagen 1932)

Caroline van Deurs learned to draw from her father, and she later became a student of the painter Vilhelm Kyhn (1819–1903). She mainly worked with genre paintings, interiors, children’s portraits, and landscapes. In 1896–98, she was in Paris, where she, among other things, exhibited at the Salon. In addition, she exhibited at the Spring Exhibition at Charlottenborg in Copenhagen for several years and she also participated in Kvindernes Udstilling fra Fortid og Nutid (The Women’s Exhibition) in 1895 and Kvindelige Kunstneres Retrospektive Udstilling (The Women Artists’ Retrospective Exhibition) in 1920 in Copenhagen.
In 1902 in Copenhagen, she opened a drawing school together with her colleague the painter Anne Marie Gilbert-Jespersen (1849–1925).
Crackles, in the corners minimal pinholes and a faint mark alog the edge of the stretcher. In need of a light surface cleaning.
