N. A. Abildgaard (b. Copenhagen 1743, d. Frederiksdal 1809)

Designs for two medals of which one if not both are related to Henrik Gerner (1741–1787). Danish Naval officer and shipbuilder. Unsigned. One inscribed Hendricus Gerner Archimedes Dania. The other Hic Genius Sæculi and dated 27 Dec. 1787 (the day of Gerners death). Drawing ink / pencil and drawing ink on paper. Sheet sizes 80×63 mm and 134×114 mm. (2).

Provenance: Benjamin Wolff (1790–1866) (Lugt 420). Bruun Rasmussen auction 1848, 2018 no. 8653.

Condition

Both mounted. Both with loss of paper to the corners. Unevenly cropped.
