A large and highly interesting collection of drawings and watercolours depicting the sacred and daily life of early 19th. century East India i.e. life on the Ganges, festivals, ceremonies, religious life, occupations etc. Several drawings annotated with titles and/or descriptions; Blacksmiths, A Woman of Mourning, Hindoo carried to the Ganges when dying and sheets numbered 1–4, describing “Burra Pooja”. Pencil, ink tracings, watercolours. European papers. Several mounted. Some with washed borders. 18×14 cm – 35×51 cm. (58)
