Emil Bærentzen (b. Copenhagen 1799, d. s.p. 1868)

A pair of portraits. Hartvig Frederik Emil Benzon (1816–1875), Master of the Royal Hunt and his wife Emilie Benzon (1813–1871). He in a blue uniform jacket with gold braid. She with long ringlets and an elegant white gown with lace. Unsigned. Oil on canvas. 29×25 cm and 29×24 cm. (2).

Excellency Hartvig Frederik Emil von Benzon, son of a chamberlain, landowner Christian Frederik Otto von Benzon to Christiansdal (Dalum Convent) at Odense.

As Hartvig Frederick was not the eldest son, his father bought him an Austro-Hungarian officers patent.

In 1844 he married the heir of an estate Emilie von Dorry der Jobterhazar, née Lazar.

While he was serving in the Austro-Hungarian army, they stayed most of the time on her estate in Hungary. After her death in 1871 he returned to Christiansdal where he died 13 November 1875 - a few months after his father.

Provenance: Descendants after the portrayed until today.
