He was a leading ‘menuisier’ during the mid-18th century, working for the French court and aristocratic patrons, including the comtesse de Fontenay, the chevalier de Lamotte, the duchesse de La Tremoille and the marquise de Chabannes. He collaborated with the most important sculptors of his time, such as François Baillard and Pierre Rousseau.
