Arne Jacobsen (b. Copenhagen 1902, d. s.p. 1971)
“The Egg Chair”. Early easy chair with profiled aluminum base, originally made without seat cushion. Sides, seat and back upholstered with original, patinated black leather. Model 3315. Designed 1958. This example manufactured 1958–60 by Fritz Hansen, with maker's early white paint stamp.
Overall good original condition. Frame with marks and scratches, one black plastic “shoe” with chips. Leather with patina consistent with age and use, including surface scratches, marks and stains. Side of one armrest with V-shaped dent piercing the leather. Some places the edgings are worn off. Small emerging defect in stitching on side of seat. Some porous foam inside, mainly on upper part of back and “ears”, where the foam has fallen down and settled mid back, making it bulge a bit. Bottom of chair with maker's early white paint stamp.
