Dea Trier Mørch (b. København 1941, d. 2001)

“Fra Njals Saga”. Signed Dea, E.T. 1965, 9/10 Aluminium. With dedication 'Til Ruth og Ivan (Malinovski)'. Engraving and etching. Visible size 21,5×27 cm. Unframed. Mounted in passepartout.

Dea Trier Mørch begins at the Royal Academy of Art's painting school at the age of 16 and debuts in 1961 at the Artists' Autumn Exhibition. She graduates from the Royal Academy of Arts in 1964 and continues to build on her education in several places in Eastern Europe. She starts out in an abstract tradition, but gradually acquires a more realistic expression, which among other reasons was due to her socialist beliefs.

In the late 1960s, she begins to write books, which she often illustrates with her own graphic work. The perhaps best known work is the novel “Vinterbørn” (Winter Children), which depicts the experiences and community of a group of women during their stay in a maternity ward.

In 2019, Dea Trier Mørsch's graphic works are shown at Louisiana in the series “Louisiana on Paper” as well as in the group exhibition “After the silence - the women of art speak out” at the National Gallery of Denmark in 2021.
