1802/252

A Chinese hardwood cabinet, the front with richly carved panels, drawers and openwork doors in the shape of floral trees, deers and ornaments. Late Qing, late 19th century. H. 106 cm. W. 106 cm. D. 43 cm.

Condition

The cupboard is in stabil condition and in working order. However, it has several old repairs that have been carried out over time, as evidenced by the photos.

The top plate is likely later, as it is mounted on top and not inlaid in the wooden frame. Each side has cracks in the panel wood. The right side has a larger break on a list.

The back panels are original with a later wooden construction of pinewood to hold the panels.

The richly carved front appears dry in the wood and faded from sunlight. The upper openwork sliding doors has a not very refined glued restoration. The bottom pierced sliding doors are curved which makes them easy to fall out of the groove in which they slide.

The base is in good condition and very nicely carved.
