A Chinese enamelled biscuit figure of Guanyin with painted mouth, eyes and brows, seated, wearing a pleated robe. Late Ming/early Qing 17th century. H. 11.5 cm. In a fitted wood and glass showcase H. 17 cm W. 17 cm D. 13 cm.

Provenance: Consigned by the grandson of the renowned Danish collector and engineer Sophus Black (1882–1960), who was stationed in China from 1902 to 1931.

Condition

Left hand broken off as the fingers of right hand, chips to the robe below left corner; firing defect/crack to the robe.
