An original black-and-white press photograph of the author Karen Blixen (1885–1962), taken prior to her visit to the United States in 1959. Photo size 17.5×12 cm. Frame size 43×33 cm.
Karen Blixen's trip to the United States - planned and arranged by the young managing director of the large publishing company Gyldendal, Otto Lindhardt - underlined her fame in the country, which 25 years earlier had chosen the entirely unknown writer's debut piece (“Seven Gothic Tales”) as Book of the Month.
This is an original black-and-white photograph from 1958, which shows normal signs of handling as well as retouched areas. Publication date and lay-out note (“1-Col[umn] Sunday Books” seen on the back. Furthermore described “Isak Dinesen”, the peudonym of Karen Blixen.
