In 1916, Gerda Wegener paints the Swedish dancer and choreographer Carina Ari (Maria Karina Viktoria Jansson), who is at the beginning of her career at the time. The portrait is executed in Wegener's recognizable style, as a strong, confident and sensual woman with red lips and alluring eyes.
