A good qama dagger with niello decorated silver mounts - probably from Georgia. The grip is carved from a single piece of black horn decorated with fine silver mounts decorated with niello. The broad blade with a central fuller on each side is c. 41 cm. long with a deep makers mark on each side. The wooden scabbard is covered on the front with faded red velvet and on the back with leather. The upper mounts is decorated en suite with the hilt and the lover mount is in iron.

Condition

Th velvel on the scabbard is faded and worn. The lower mount is spotted.
