“The Butterfly Service” - a large Danish porcelain dinner service, comprising 163 pieces, decorated in colors and gold with butterflies, flowers, berries, beetles and nuts on white ground, six covers to resp. four ragout dishes and two soup tureens decorated with a putto holding a shield with Princess Thyra of Denmark's mirrored monogram. Provenance: The dinner service was part of the equipment, given by Crown Prince Frederik (VIII) and Crown Princess Lovisa of Denmark to their daughter, Princess Thyra of Denmark (1880–1945); then her nephew and heir, Hereditary Prince Knud of Denmark (1900–1976); thence his daughter, Princess Elisabeth of Danmark (1935–2018). Before her death the dinner service was given to private Danish ownership, which it has been until today.
