Literature: “Kurt” was launced in Glasgow in 1904 for thr German firm Siemers & Co. When the US entered WWI 'Kurt' became one of several German vessels seized in the US ports. The wife of Woodrow Wilson renamed the ship “Moshulu”, Indian for fearless. After a 10.5 million dollar refit, she is now a restaurant of the Philadelphia waterfront. She is seen in the painting setting out on her vigin voyage for Chile in 1904.
