A pair of narrow Chinese mirrors in hardwood frames, carved with ornamentation and bats, each with three-part mirror, the middle with defect mirror borders and the bottom with hinterglass painting, one of which is missing. 19th/ early 20th century. Provenance: Civil engineer Carl Gimbel, 1881–1946, professor at the Imperial University of Beijing 1910–1912 with rank of Mandarin of 3rd degree. 1913–1928 District Manager of the Salt taxes.

Condition

Both mirror frames are in original condition. Wear due to age. Both mirror glasses are spotted with dark marks. Mirror glass is missing. The reverse painting on one is missing.
