Krohg's pupils often worked on the same motifs as he did, and occasionally Krohg signed their paintings in order to promote a sale. The present painting is an example of this. The model is Aunt Marie, who died in the 1890'ties, a motiv Krohg has painted several times.
The canvas is relined. Crackles, repairs and retouches. A few minimal peelings.
