929/253
A Ushak carpet, West Turkey. Design of entwined flower vines on a natural off white/grey wool background surrounded by a soft mint green main border. C. 1900. 410×355 cm.
Ushaks were woven in Western Anatolia which was one of the largest rug producing areas since the Ottoman Empire. Their designs tend to be more open than the Persian rugs and desirable today due to their sometimes softer color palette.
