A large French gilt and patinated bronze centrepiece, surmounted by a circular cut glass bowl, held aloft by three dancing maenads, each with grapes and vine leaves in their hair, wearing a lion’s pelt and holding a thyrsus, on a circular plinth mounted above by rosettes and swags, standing on dragon head finials. Empire style, 19th century. H. 58 cm. Diam. 48 cm.
